Cairo International Festival for Experimental Theatre – 32nd Edition

The Cairo International Festival for Experimental Theatre (CIFET) is Egypt’s longest-running platform dedicated to exploring new forms of performance. Founded in 1988, it has become a meeting point for artists, directors, and thinkers who push the boundaries of theatre.

Now in its 32nd edition, the festival stretches across eight days and ten stages, hosting twenty different troupes. Each brings its own vision, shaped by diverse schools of thought — from scenography and movement to light and sound.

Yet the most intriguing stories may not unfold on stage, but in the unseen spaces behind it: the workshops, the rehearsals, the quiet hands that build what the audience will never question.

This is only the beginning.

Follow our upcoming notes from behind the scenes.
